All's Fair
Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

The short version

All's Fair keeps almost everything on your iPad. Your name, your settings, your themes and your game history never leave the device.

Three things do involve someone else: Game Center handles leaderboards, Apple handles purchases, and — in the Daily Tournament only — Google shows adverts. The advertising is the only part that collects anything meaningful about you, and we ask your permission before it does. Everyone, everywhere, is asked: Apple's tracking prompt appears the first time you open the app. In the UK and Europe there is a separate consent form from Google as well, which appears first.

You can change your answers at any time — Apple's in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Google's in Store → Manage privacy choices — or remove advertising entirely with a one-off Ad-Free purchase.

The rest of this document is the detail.

1. Who we are

All's Fair is published by Hytsioaboa Software Limited (trading as Hytsio Studio), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16784431, registered office Thornbury, Bristol, UK.

For UK GDPR purposes we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect, and why

2.1 Things that stay on your device

  • The name you type for yourself or other players — so score cards say who is who

  • Your chosen tile theme and board layout — so the game looks the way you left it

  • Relaxed mode and sound settings — so they persist between games

  • Your game history: scores, times, dates, how each game ended — so you can see your own record

  • Which Daily Tournaments you have entered — so the one-go-a-day rule works

These are held in the app's own storage, readable only by the All's Fair app.  This is not shared with Hytsio Studio.

2.2 Game Center

If you sign in to Game Center, Apple handles your leaderboard entries and your Game Center identity. When you post a Daily Tournament score, your score and your Game Center display name go to Apple's leaderboards.

We can see the leaderboards. We do not receive your Apple Account details. Apple's handling of this is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

You can play every mode of All's Fair without signing in to Game Center. You will simply not appear on the worldwide rankings.

2.3 Games played nearby

"Host or Join a Game Nearby" connects iPads directly to one another over your local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework.

Player names and game moves pass directly between the devices in the room. There is no server of ours involved, and nothing is stored anywhere afterwards except each device's own game history.

2.4 Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made — never your payment details, card number or billing address.

2.5 Advertising in the Daily Tournament

This is the only part of All's Fair that involves collection by a third party. It applies to the Daily Tournament only, and not at all if you have bought Ad-Free.

We use Google AdMob to show a banner and one advert before the day's puzzle begins. To do that, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • Your IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of the device (typically to city level)

  • A device identifier — either Apple's advertising identifier or an identifier bounded to this app or to us as publisher

  • Advertising data, such as which adverts you have been shown

  • Product interaction data, such as app launches and taps

  • Diagnostic and performance data, such as crash logs, app launch time and energy use

  • Crash logs not associated with you personally

Google uses this to select adverts, to limit how often you see the same one, to measure whether adverts worked, and to detect fraud.

All's Fair asks for your permission to track. Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt appears the first time you open the app, immediately after any consent form from Google. If you allow it, Apple's advertising identifier becomes available to Google and its advertising partners, and may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline — or if you have turned off "Allow Apps to Request to Track" in your device settings — the identifier stays unavailable, and adverts are selected from this app's own signals and general context instead. The game plays exactly the same either way.

Google's own handling of advertising data is described at business.safety.google/privacy.

3. Your consent, and how to take it back

There are two separate permissions, and neither stands in for the other. Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt applies to everyone, everywhere: the first time you open All's Fair, Apple asks whether the app may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. Apple shows that prompt only once per installation.

Google's consent form is separate, and applies if you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland. We ask your permission before any advertising data is collected, the first time you open All's Fair, using Google's User Messaging Platform. It is asked for even when adverts are not personalised, because non-personalised adverts still use identifiers for frequency capping and reporting.

To change your answers at any time: Apple's in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Google's in Store → Manage privacy choices.

You may also remove advertising altogether by purchasing Ad-Free, at which point no advertising data is collected regardless of what you consented to.

If you decline either permission, All's Fair works exactly as before. You may see fewer or less relevant adverts. No feature is withheld and nothing is degraded.

4. Our lawful basis (UK GDPR)

  • Running the game, and keeping your settings and history on your device — Contract: you asked us to provide the game

  • Leaderboards via Game Center — Contract: you chose to sign in and post a score

  • Advertising, and the identifiers it uses — Consent for storing and accessing information on your device, asked before collection and withdrawable at any time. Some of Google's advertising partners rely on legitimate interests for certain purposes; you can object to these in the same screen, under "Manage options". App Tracking Transparency is an Apple platform permission rather than a UK GDPR lawful basis, and sits alongside this consent rather than instead of it.

  • Diagnosing crashes and improving the app — Legitimate interests: making the game work properly

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers.

Data is shared only with:

  • Apple — leaderboards, purchases, and the App Store

  • Google and its advertising partners — advertising only, as described in section 2.5, and only with your consent where consent is required. Google works with a large number of advertising partners; the full list is shown in the consent message when you first open All's Fair, and you can review it at any time in Store → Manage privacy choices. If you allow tracking through Apple's prompt, that advertising data — including Apple's advertising identifier — may also be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.

6. How long we keep things

Data on your device stays until you delete it or delete the app. Clearing your game history in the app removes it immediately and permanently — we hold no copy, so we cannot restore it.

Game Center leaderboard entries are retained by Apple under Apple's own policy. Advertising data is retained by Google under Google's.

7. Children

All's Fair is a word game for a general audience. It is not directed at children, is not marketed to children, and is not listed in the App Store's Kids Category.

The app offers a Relaxed mode, which removes the clock and the swap penalty. This is a way to play without time pressure — for anyone who would rather think than race. It is not an age setting, and it changes nothing about what data is collected.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at gdpr@hytsiostudio.com.

8. Transfers outside the UK

Apple and Google are international. Data handled by them may be processed outside the UK, under their own safeguards. See Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising privacy information.

We ourselves transfer nothing: we hold no personal data on any server.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time.

Because All's Fair stores your data on your own device, you can exercise most of these yourself and immediately — clear your history in the app, change your consent in Store, or delete the app.

For anything else, write to gdpr@hytsiostudio.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on +44 303 123 1113.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how All's Fair handles data, we will update this policy and change the date at the top. Where a change requires it, we will ask for your consent again.
